Munich International Airport - Conversion and extension of Terminal 2
Unclean – Clean Passenger guidance
EU Regulation 2320/2002 stipulates that passengers from Non-Schengen countries transferring to connecting flights at European airports must be separated from other passengers in order to pass through additional security checks. For this purpose, an extra floor was added to the pier building in Terminal 2 between 2007 and 2009. The extension allows all passengers arriving from ‘unclean’ countries to be routed through a separate security procedure.
The realization of the new European security requirements have been made within an operating terminal by stockpiling and extension of the pier building at Munich Airport Terminal 2. All connecting passengers arriving from outside the EU undergo mandatory security checks and hand baggage screening before continuing their journey. The construction has been made under operation within in the critical part / apron of the airport.
Measures:
Establishment of new security checks for 'unclean' transfer passengers above the new security checkpoints on the fifth floor. Adaptation of the facilities for federal police and customs office on the fifth floor. Adaptation of the retail concept on the fifth and partially on the fourth floor due to the necessary conversions. Optional provision of advertising space
